Real Madrid Wins 2024 Supercopa de España with Vini Jr’s Unforgettable Hat-Trick Performance

4 min read

Sunday night was a night to remember for the young Brazilian superstar Vini Jr., bagging a hat-trick in the first 40 minutes of the match and leading Real Madrid to its 13th Supercopa de España trophy over FC Barcelona in an emphatic 4-1 win.

The result of the Final was nothing better than sweet revenge for Los Blancos, as they were defeated by Barcelona in last year’s edition of the competition.

Real Madrid vs Barcelona Match Action

Los Blancos wasted no time in taking the lead with Vini Jr. making a perfectly timed run and receiving a through ball pass from the Englishman Jude Bellingham in open space before dribbling around the Barça keeper Iñaki Peña and placing the ball in the back of the empty net.

Three minutes later, Vini Jr. would double Real’s lead after scoring his second of the night. Rodrygo caught Barcelona’s backline playing too high, which freed him up for a run into empty space (similar to Vini’s run in the first goal) following a cut through pass by Dani Carvajal. There, Rodrygo pushed the ball forward into Barça’s final third before lasering a perfect ground ball pass to a sliding Vini Jr. at the far post, who calmly finished in goal.

Barcelona would get one back in the 33rd minute thanks to an outside-the-box volley by Robert Lewandowski; however, Vini Jr. would once again rise to the occasion, extending the white Spanish giants’ advantage minutes later.

A penalty was called in favor of Real Madrid as Vini Jr. was brought down inside the box in the 36th minute. The youngster then converted from the spot with a right-footed shot towards the bottom left corner to make it 3-1 before halftime.

After the 15 minute break, Real Madrid would keep pushing and creating more attacking threats, showing no mercy to their arch-rival. With the high pressure intensity on Barcelona’s defensive line, Real would break through and score their fourth goal of the night through Rodrygo. Vini Jr. played the ball to the middle and took a deflection off Barça’s defender Jules Kounde, which rebounded towards Rodrygo before finishing on a first time strike.

Ancelotti Post-Match Reaction

“We wanted to win and we did it… we didn’t start very well, but we have a very strong team, with very high-level individuals, and we found Vinícius in an extraordinary moment…so it was a complete match and we are very happy,” said Carlo Ancellotti.

Man of the Match Performance

The Man of the Match award goes to none other than Vini Jr. for his quick three-goal performance, becoming the first Real Madrid player to notch the fastest hat-trick in a Clasico since 1951.

Huge Influence by Tchouaméni

Apart from Vini’s stellar display, the young Frenchman Aurélien Tchouaméni also had a monster of a game, anchoring the midfield and making sure his defensive presence was felt by Barcelona.

During the whole 90 minutes, Tchouaméni registered four interceptions, three tackles, two clearances and six duels won while also not allowing no Barcelona player to dribble past him once.

Real Madrid So Far

Los Blancos so far this 2023-24 season have been unstoppable! Winning 24 of the 28 games played while suffering just one defeat; notably, finishing the Champions League group stages with a perfect record of 6 for 6 and now becoming Supercopa de España champions after defeating Atlético Madrid and Barcelona. Real have also made sure to send a message to Europe that their goal scoring ability is as strong as their backline, as so far they’ve slotted in a total of 68 goals while only conceding 23.
