Madrid CFF came away with its 10th victory of the season after defeating Real Betis 3-1 in matchday 14 action, with Cristina Librán, Karen Araya, and Camila Sáez contributing to Saturday’s win with a goal each.

Madrid CFF vs Real Betis Match Action

The match was off to a quick start with the visiting Real Betis claiming the first goal of the match following a cross by midfielder Natalia Montilla to forward Júlia Aguado at the far post for a header.

Two minutes later, Madrid CFF leveled the score when Araya found the back of the net after a goalkeeping error by Betis’ keeper Malena Mieres. The ball was crossed towards the center of the box, where the keeper came out of position and mishandled the ball when trying to grab it. Araya took advantage and reacted quickly, lobbing the ball over the last defender and into goal.

The home team would then strike again and claim a 2-1 lead through an outside the box blast by Sáez. Similar to the build up of the first goal, a cross was put into Betis’ box before the keeper mistakenly punished the ball towards the Chilean defender. There, Sáez hit it on a first time strike, passed the keeper’s legs and into the bottom right corner. The scoreline then remained unmoved till the end of the first half.

Coming out of the break, Madrid CFF continued its sharp play by quickly scoring its third and final goal in the 47th minute. The play started on the right side of the pitch, with forward Luany pushing the ball towards the goal line before crossing the ball to the middle. The Betis’ keeper was unable to clear it, leaving Spanish international Librán to finish easily past the keeper’s hands.

Both Sides’ Top Goal Scorers

Currently, Madrid CFF has two players sitting within the top 10 Liga F leading scorers of this season, with forward Racheal Kundananji in fourth with eight goals and Araya tied in seventh with six goals. Within the Club top scorers, the youngster Librán sits behind second place Araya and first place Kundananji with fourth goals.

For Real Betis, Aguado and Tiffany Cameron are currently the top scorers of the team with both putting up three goals a piece.

Where do They Currently Sit on the Table

After Madrid CFF’s weekend win, they now moved up to fourth and are tied with second place Levante and third place Real Madrid with 30 points. Betis, on the other hand, sit in 12th place at the moment with 13 points.
