Brazilian Defender Éder Militão Extends Contract with Real Madrid until 2028

Éder Militão is here to stay as Real Madrid and the 26-year-old agreed on a new extension until June 30, 2028 with a release clause of 1 billion, confirmed by the Club on Tuesday afternoon Spanish time.

The deal was already agreed upon during the contract extensions period of Rodrygo, Vinícius Júnior, Federico Valverde, and Eduardo Camavinga in October and November 2023. The only thing that was missing was the signature of the Brazilian center back.

Flash forward to January 2024, and the Militão contract extension is finally official.

“I’m very excited about this renewal and am proud to remain at the best club in the world,” expressed Militão. “Being here is a great and beautiful thing… as I feel motivated to keep making history here [at Real Madrid].”

Militão first signed with Los Blancos back in 2019 for 50 million, coming from Portuguese side FC Porto at the age of 21. Since then, in his first five seasons, he’s proven to be one of the brightest and best center backs in the world. The defender has made a total of 143 appearances across all competitions while registering 11 goals.

So far, Militão has won nine pieces of silverware with Real Madrid: One Champions League, one Club World Cup, one European Super Cup, two Spanish Leagues, one Copa del Rey, and three Spanish Super Cups.

During this current season, Militão is yet to see the pitch since the league opener against Athletic Club, where he ruptured his ACL in his left knee. However, he’s doing everything he can to make his return before the end of the season as hopefully he’ll be able to take the field either in March or April.
